In October of 2009 this past year while in Peru I attended the celebration of Señor de los Milagros. Procession of the shrine is viewed by tens of thousands of people each year. Requesting or giving thanks for a miracle it the common thread among the people and the emotion can be overwhelming for many.

Getting close can be challenging. With so many people trying to get a good look in at the figure in Lima where the streets are very narrow at times, accidents are not uncommon when the masses of people begin pushing in.

It was a great experience but it may be a few years before next time I brave the crowds.
